For You

A partnership built around your goals.

Whether you want to grow your firm, plan a transition, or pursue a combination of both, Cypres Partners brings capital, back-office support, and strategic guidance to help you move forward.

Your priorities

Start with what matters to you.

Your plans may include continuing to lead, taking some liquidity, reducing administrative responsibilities, or preparing for retirement. We work with you to shape a partnership around your goals and the firm’s future.

Growth and succession do not have to be separate decisions. You may want to expand today and transition later, or bring in support while you decide on your longer-term role. We discuss those priorities together and agree on a plan.

Every partnership starts with clear expectations about the owner’s role, the support Cypres will provide, and the priorities for the firm.

Ways to Partner

The structure should fit the firm, not the other way around.

A

Growth partnership

For owners who want to keep leading and building, we bring capital and back-office support to help recruit attorneys, open offices, expand practice areas, or pursue acquisitions. Together, we agree on growth priorities, decision-making responsibilities, and where operating support can free up your time.

B

Succession solution

For owners considering stepping away, we work together on a plan for leadership, clients, and staff. We discuss timing, potential liquidity, and your ongoing involvement, with capital and back-office support to help the team carry the firm forward.

C

A combination of both

You do not need to choose a single path at the outset. A partnership can include owner liquidity today, continued leadership and growth, and a planned transition later. We agree on the structure and responsibilities around your goals and the needs of the firm.

Rules of professional conduct restrict non-lawyer ownership of law firms in most states. We work with each firm’s counsel to build structures, such as management services arrangements, that respect those rules and protect attorney independence.

What You Ask

Straight answers to the questions that matter most.

Will the firm keep its name?

In most cases, yes. A firm’s name carries decades of trust, and we see no reason to change it. Any change would be something we discuss together, never a surprise.

What happens to my attorneys and staff?

Our goal is stability. We want your team to feel supported, not disrupted, and we build retention and growth opportunities into the plan rather than treating them as an afterthought.

What back-office support can you provide?

We can support finance and reporting, recruiting, marketing, technology, and vendor management. Together, we identify what the firm needs and agree on what Cypres will handle, what stays with your team, and how we will coordinate the work.

How involved will I stay?

As involved as you want to be. Some owners remain in leadership for years; others prefer a planned handoff. We structure around your preference.

Who sees our conversations?

Only a small group at Cypres. Early discussions are confidential, and we do not contact your clients, staff, or referral sources without your direction.

Is there any obligation in a first conversation?

None. You do not need a transaction timeline to talk with us. We welcome early conversations about your firm’s ambitions and where a partner could help.

Confidential Conversations

Considering the next chapter for your firm?

A first conversation is private, informal, and carries no obligation.
